I love your photography of dark, abandoned places. Fascinating stuff.

I finally got the camera. I took a test picture with it. I want you to download it, but it's 10MB so it'll be a little slow. Anyway, it had some terrible JPEG artifacts. I removed them, but it still doesn't look all that good. [link]

Hey, can you tell me if this camera is worth the price? [link] I figured you would know if it was worth it.

Seems about right, shop around a bit and see if you can get it cheaper, you never know :) In the UK often if you go in to a shop to buy something electronic, you can barter with the store assistant and they might throw in a few extras just to keep you buying there, maybe a case or an extra battery or something of similar value. Not sure if that is common in the US though?

But the camera seems pretty good, high enough resolution to print big (although megapixels aren't as important as the marketing guys make them out to be!), nice zoom range and a big screen too.

I'm looking at getting a compact camera myself soon as I often get annoyed dragging an SLR around with me, and in my research I haven't heard anything bad about the Sony cams :)

Good luck with the price hunting!

Thanks for the detailed message! And here in the US, the only time you can get a $.01 discount or a molecular metal shaving is if the store decided to drop the price or throw something in (and they always advertise the new price, it's always an old product, their competitors are doing similar, it was planned ahead of time, and it's usually a "Black Friday" type of day)
Oh, and I can take some test pics of light/dark areas etc for some examples if I get it. I'll be buying it online, though, as it's quite a bit cheaper, so it'll be a while to ship even if I get it now.
