Seems about right, shop around a bit and see if you can get it cheaper, you never know In the UK often if you go in to a shop to buy something electronic, you can barter with the store assistant and they might throw in a few extras just to keep you buying there, maybe a case or an extra battery or something of similar value. Not sure if that is common in the US though?

But the camera seems pretty good, high enough resolution to print big (although megapixels aren't as important as the marketing guys make them out to be!), nice zoom range and a big screen too.

I'm looking at getting a compact camera myself soon as I often get annoyed dragging an SLR around with me, and in my research I haven't heard anything bad about the Sony cams
